CHICAGO!

G&B walk around while their camera takes the city by storm!

img_0001.jpg

These scary electric monsters appear every time anyone tries to tapdance on the tracks. It's best to just stay on the platform.

Occasionally the faces "spit" on the visitors (who are uniformly delighted to be spat upon).

It's not just kids that like to pretend to walk on water, sometimes it's groomsmen from a wedding, all wearing identical shoes who slop around in the shallows.

img_0014.jpg

This is Cloud Gate (aka the "Bean"). It's enormous and although it's a simple-seeming idea, it's very beautiful.

img_0018.jpg

Wonder what those people are doing?

img_0020.jpg

Inside is the best carnival mirror of all time.

img_0022.jpg

Spooky.

img_0023.jpg

img_0025.jpg

img_0026.jpg

t's almost like you could reach out and touch the bean! Actually, you can. We were just standing a few feet too far away. Maybe next time.

img_0029.jpg

img_0030.jpg

This would be a good spot for a wedding photo. If only this humongous glob of metal weren't blocking the skyline. Sheesh!

Detail of the Robie House brickwork. Frank Lloyd Wright had the mortar tinted for the vertical joints to accentuate the horizontal stripes. Sounds like a lot of work.

Giselle at Buckingham Fountain. The water occasionally shoots hundreds (perhaps even millions!) of feet in the air. It must be powered by a natural geyser situated directly under Chicago and deep within the earth's crust. Someday geyserologists will prove my hypothesis. Until that glorious day, the secret of Buckingham Fountain remains elusive.

This artist was hired to put an installation in front of the Museum of Contemporary Art. They almost made it to the museum, but then the trailer with all the art supplies must've been too heavy for the unreinforced sidewalk. Too bad.
